This article deals with the new global civilizational constellations which are evolving before our eyes. These new constellations emerge by virtue of the ongoing social, political, institutional and cultural transformations. Unprecedented religious trends matter much in the course of these transformations: they lead to the emergence of new identities; transnational religious and ethnic movements, which act beyond national borders and undermine the classical idea of nation-al-state sovereignty; the decrease of the power of traditional hegemonies; and in general to the crisis of the entire global order.
